	If you can't design starships yourself, you can download meshes in 3DS and DXF format to render from 3D CAFE.. It's not just starships either, there are many categories of useful objects to import into your rendering software.
	This page has an excellent collection of SF art from various sources. It's a good place to get new ideas for your own images, the owner suggests you use them for Windows wallpaper

	If you include aliens or elves in your writing, you'll want them to have names that sound like they are part of a language. This is The Language Construction Kit, with lots of links to liguistic sites, details on building new grammars that don't sound like english and software to help you do it.
